Vivo V40 phone sale has started in India. The price of this latest phone from Vivo starts at Rs 34,999. Vivo V30 was earlier launched under the company’s V series in the Rs 30,000 range. Despite being old, this phone has the ability to compete with the latest phone in terms of power. The similarities and differences between Vivo V40 and Vivo V30 phone are discussed in detail below.

The Vivo V40 phone has been launched in limited storage model. The base model of the phone is priced at Rs 34,999 with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, the mid model with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at Rs 36,999 and the top model with 12GB RAM + 512GB storage is priced at Rs 41,999. This phone will be sold in Lotus purple, Ganges Blue and Titanium Gray color in the market.

The Vivo V30 is sold in three storage options in India. The base model with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at Rs 31,999. The mid model with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at Rs 33,999 and the top model with 12GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at Rs 35,999. This phone is offered in Peacock Green Blue and Classic Black colors.

Display

Both the Vivo V40 and Vivo V30 phones have a Full HD+ punch hole display with 2800 x 1260 pixels resolution supported. Both phones have a screen size of 6.78-inches. The screen is model of AMOLED panel and supports 120Hz refresh rate.

Although the screen size, panel and resolution of the two phones are the same, the Local Peak Brightness is different. The Vivo V30 phone was given 2800nite of brightness. On the other hand, the new Vivo V40 has 4500nits of brightness.

The Camera

For photography, the company has added a ZEISS lens to the Vivo V40 phone, which was not present in the Vivo V30 phone. Bote the phones have a 50-megapixal front camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls.

Both these phones share the same rear camera power. Both the phones add a 50-megrapixal primary capable of f/1.88 aperture and a 50-megrapixal ultra-with angle lens with f/2.0 aperture. Both the phones get auto focus and OIS features on the primary sensor.

Both phones have a field of view of 119°. The company has not made any upgrades in this aspect of the Vivo V40 phone. But the sensor size has been changed. The primary sensor size of Vivo V30 phone is 1/55″ and this size has size has increased to 1/56″ in case of Vivo V40 phone.

Processor

Both the Vivo V40 and Vivo V30 phones run Android 14 and Fun Touch OS 14. Both phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. We tested benchmark apps on both phones to check how different the performance of tow phones with the same chipset can be. The results are shared below.

The two phones scored almost identically on the benchmark app. So, we played COD, BGMI and Real Rating 3 for 30 minutes on both phones to see how each phone responds during gaming. Gaming test results are shared below.

Storage

Both Vivo V40 and Vivo V30 phones are sold in three storage options each. Both the phones offer 8GB RAM + 128GB storage in the base model and 8GB + 256GB storage in the mid model. But there is a difference in the case of the top variant.

The Vivo V40 phone has 12GB RAM with 512GB storage, while the Vivo V30 phone has 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. Both phones feature 12GB Extended RAM, so both phones can enjoy up to 24GB of RAM.

Battery

The Vivo has a 5,500mAh battery and Vivo V30 has a 5,000mAh battery. In our tests, the V40 got a PC Mark score of 13 hours, and the V30’s battery lasted more than 17 hours. Please note that in this test all phone apps are given ‘unrestricted access’, and brightness is kept above 80%.

Both these phones have 80W fast charging feature. In our testing, the Vivo V40 took 35 minutes to charge from 20 to 100 percent, while the Vivo V30 took 47 minutes. It is worth noting that the Vivo V40’s larger battery took less time to change than the Vivo V30 despite the two phones having similar charging speeds.

Vivo V40 or Vivo V30, which phone to buy?

There is a price difference of Rs 3,000 between the Vivo V40 and Vivo V30 phones with 8GB RAM models with 128GB and 256GB storage. Judging by this difference is not much. Apart from the price, Vivo V40 phone performance, battery and camera are better than Vivo V30 phone. The display also has good brightness. In our option it is better to pay Rs 3,000 more for the new generation phone.
